Suzanne Schreiber files for Tulsa Public School Board District 7
TULSA, OK - Suzanne Schreiber filed for Tulsa Public School Board District 7 on Monday, December 1, 2013. Ms. Schreiber said she as always admired citizens in public service. She said that admiration combined with her belief that a successful community must offer a quality public education to all and her plans to have her own four children attend Tulsa Public Schools, inspired her to run for the school board seat.
Ms. Schreiber said she also saw a need for a need for new leadership in District 7. "I want to be a responsive and strong voice for parents and the community at the district -level and plan to be in the buildings in my district to find out how we can better serve our kids. I will ask the hard questions about whether we are truly offering the same opportunities to succeed to every student and if not, what models are having success and how can we bring them to District 7?"
Ms. Schreiber is particularly interested in learning more about the state of TPS middle schools and junior highs post-Project Schoolhouse. She says it is important to ensure that the middle school and junior high to high school feeder patterns are fair and best situated to prepare students to succeed in high school and beyond.
Ms. Schreiber, 41, received her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Tulsa . She is employed as a program officer at the Tulsa Community Foundation. Ms. Schreiber and her husband Tony Rittenberry, have four children ages two to ten. Their school age children attend Grimes Elementary and Eisenhower International School. Tulsa Public School District 7 includes: Carnegie Elementary, Eisenhower International, Grimes Elementary, Grissom Elementary, Key Elementary, Marshall Elementary, McClure Elementary, Patrick Henry Elementary, Memorial Junior High, Thoreau Middle School, and Memorial High School.
Elections for District 7 School Board Member are Tuesday, February 11, 2014. For more information about Ms. Schreiber’s campaign visit www.suzanneschreiber.com.
